Blu Dot started with three college friends - two architects and a sculptor - sketching furniture on butcher paper in a 300-square-foot Minneapolis space because they couldn't find modern design they could actually afford. Twenty-some years on, the whole thing is still designed in-house in Minneapolis, and some of their most popular pieces today were in the very first collection. That's the appeal: purposeful, unfussy modern design that's built to be kept.
